Canada legalized cannabis on October 17, 2018, subject to provincial or territorial restrictions, making its recreational use legal nationwide. As a result, workplaces are now examining their policies to determine whether their policies effective address issues that may arise due to the legalization of marijuana. In fact, a 2017 survey of Human Resources Professionals Association members found that 45% of respondents do not believe their current policies adequately deal with issues that may potentially arise.
