SaskCulture’s 2024 Annual General Meeting and Member Session took place in-person, on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the Conexus Arts Centre, Jacqui Shumiatcher Room, 200 Lakeshore Drive, Regina. The full AGM package can be found attached as downloads on this page.

This year, SaskCulture also offered a virtual, live stream of the member session and Annual Meeting.

Member Session

There many cultural groups in Saskatchewan moving the needle on increasing engagement, as well as advancing inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility, through innovative cultural programming.  As part of SaskCulture’s Member Session, cultural leaders from three exciting initiatives shared their work and discussed key learnings made along the way:

  • Eliza Doyle and Holly Yuzicappi, Community Arts Mentorship Program (CAMP) shared her experience in setting up a popular music mentorship program in northern Saskatchewan. Her experience involves establishing a program that effectively engages youth from remote communities in music education and opportunities.

  • Lisa Washington, City of Yorkton, works with various community partners to hold Culture Days in Yorkton each year. Thanks to strong community participation, Yorkton has ranked in the Top 10 across Canada of smaller communities hosting Culture Days. Lisa shared her experiences in building partnerships, engaging community in Culture Days and keeping up momentum all year long.

  • Over the past two years, SK Art and SaskCulture have set up two new equity grants using a participatory grant-making approach. This process involves giving the decision-making power, for the use of funds, directly to the grant’s intended recipients. Chanz Perry, SK Arts, and Rhonda Rosenberg, Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan, with community grant-makers Stephanie Bellefleur and Aster Ghebermicael shared about their experiences in creating, implementing, and evaluating the Building Arts Equity – BPOC program, and how this successful granting approach may be used in the renewal of future grant programs.
