Board succession planning is an ongoing activity. A non-profit, board of directors usually consists of 10-15 persons depending on what works for the organization. The size of the board is identified in its constitution. A Nominations Committee is often appointed by the board to develop and maintain records of board and board committee members including information on skills, interests, experiences, board-related orientation and training and terms of service.
