Purpose
What is Culture Days?
Culture Days is a national celebration of arts, culture and creativity that takes place each Fall. Its aim is to raise awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. With the support of volunteer groups at the national, provincial and local levels, hundreds of thousands of artists, cultural workers, organizations and groups, volunteers and supporters self-mobilize to host free participatory public activities that take place in hundreds of cities and towns throughout the country each fall.
Culture Days 2024 will take place September 20 - October 13!
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation occurs on September 30, 2024. This day honours the lost children and survivors of residential schools and their families, and endeavours to acknowledge and better understand the history and harms done. Public commemoration is a vital component of the reconciliation process, and Culture Days is committed to marking and honouring this important day.
Like always, there will be a myriad of free, interactive activities for all ages to enjoy safely indoors, outdoors and online! Visitors can find small-gathering or self-guided events near them, while going digital allows participants to virtually criss-cross the country and discover live-streamed performances and other online presentations.
Culture Days Hub Sponsorship applications with activities and programming that advance Truth and Reconciliation as part of September 30, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, will be prioritized.
