Plaque Unveiled to Honour Former Students of Regina Residential School
On August 14, 2018, a plaque was unveiled at the Regina Indian Industrial School Cemetery (RIIS), located on Pinkie Road, west of Regina. The cemetery grounds is the final resting place for approximately 35 children from First Nations and Métis communities from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The RIIS is the first residential school cemetery to receive heritage designation in Saskatchewan.
SaskCulture's Engage magazine featured a story a couple of years ago on the making of Janine Windolph and Trudy Stewart's documentary about RIIS.
