R.M. of Frenchman Butte No. 501
The Rural Municipality of Frenchman Butte No. 501 was incorporated in 1954. The municipality consists of 26 townships and encompasses the Village of Paradise Hill, the Town of St. Walburg and the Hamlet of Frenchman Butte. The famous, historical Carlton Trail cuts through this municipality that is steeped in rich history. The R.M. of Frenchman Butte is home to the Frenchman Butte Museum, as well as sites such as the Fort Pitt National Historic Site and the Cree Rifle Pits. The Village of Paradise Hill is home to Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, which contains many original painting by internationally renowned artist Count Berthold von Imhoff. The Town of St. Walburg won a number of LivCom awards in 2007 and 2008 as one of the world's most livable and sustainable communities and also boasts the homestead and studio of artist Count Berthold von Imhoff, which was declared a Provincial Heritage Site in 2005.
