ABOUT YOU
Though not an exhaustive list, the SJF is particularly interested in hearing from individuals with experience and knowledge in one or more of the following:
-Finance Analysis
-Accounting
-Human Resources
-Marketing
-Sponsorship and Philanthropy
-Festivals and the Music Industry
What other skills and values make for an effective SJF Board Member?
-Passion for live music and the community
-Critical thinking and sound judgment
-Fiscal literacy and responsibility
-Integrity, professionalism, and respectfulness
-Creativity and innovative approaches to community engagement
-Emotional intelligence and communication abilities
-Long term strategic vision
The SJF also wishes to reflect the diversity of our community, individuals who identify as Indigenous, refugee/immigrant, people of colour, LGBTQ2S+, non- binary, and/or people with a disability, are strongly encouraged to apply.
ABOUT THE COMMITMENT
SJF board members can serve for 3 consecutive 3-year terms and, during those terms, may have the opportunity to further serve as part of our executive.
Board meetings are held once a month and committee meetings are held as required. It is expected that directors (i) attend board meetings and contribute to one or two board committees, (ii) remain informed and think actively about SJF policies, programs and services, (iii) represent and advocate for the SJF’s best interests, (iv) attend our annual Festival, and (v) commit to the principles of the pursuit of excellence and continual improvement.
During the Festival, it is expected that SJF board members are present and visible with an eye towards continual improvement of the festival experience and enhancement of the festival’s relationship with our community and stakeholders.

Our Governance Committee will begin reviewing submissions by April 30, 2025 and successful candidates will be contacted for further discussion following that review. Please contact us if you require any accommodations or supports for the submission process.
