Call for Artists
On Cue Performance Hub, Regina
Deadline: November 30, 2022 - December 07, 2022
Winter Moon Fest
Calling all Regina-based Performing Artists
Submission Deadline: Midnight December 7, 2022
In the context of Regina’s Winter City Strategy, On Cue Performance Hub will be hosting a Winter Moon Fest, January 26 through February 4, 2023. Over three evenings, marking phases of the evolving full moon, a wide variety of performing artists will present work which responds to our theme of “Winter under the Snow Moon.”
Festival artists will activate three different performative spaces and areas of the city: a cabaret space in the Warehouse District, the film theatre at the central branch of the Regina Public Library, and an intimate theatre at the Saskatchewan Science Centre, as well as adjacent outdoor park space.
On Cue is requesting proposals for participation in this festival from artists working individually or in groups from across performative fields such as dance, film, music, theatre, spoken word poetry, stand-up comedy and storytelling. In mounting this cross-disciplinary event, On Cue seeks to celebrate and serve as a catalyst for the interplay and exchange of artists working across performative forms in response to a common broad theme.
Proposals may be for a performance of 30 minutes or less and should make it clear how the proposed work will respond to or interpret the experience of “winter” (in Regina or another cold climate, possibly by comparison or contrast with other seasons or winter elsewhere) and/or “the moon” (e.g. as a natural or cultural phenomenon in the night sky, its various phases, its impact on the landscape and/or people, etc.). Proposals for work to be performed outdoors (in Wascana Park near the Science Centre) are very welcome. This does not have to be new work and may have been created and/or performed prior. All moon-related work, either new or existing, in any genre will be considered. (ex. actors are more than welcome to bring published poetry, monologues, or writing as long as they have permission to perform it.)
All Regina-based artists working in the performing arts are encouraged to apply. In keeping with On Cue Performance Hub’s mandate to create space on Regina stages for emerging and underserved artists, proposals from artists who self-identify as Indigenous, persons of colour, newcomers, Deaf or disabled, age or gender diverse are encouraged. Artists must explicitly identify in this application. Applications which pair an emerging artist with a more senior artist are also encouraged. All artists will be compensated at an appropriate rate for their performances.
Proposals will be received up to midnight on December 7, 2022. For queries and further information, contact Landon Walliser, Creative Administrator at admin@oncueregina.ca. On Cue will contact successful artists by December 16, 2022.
As Regina’s newest performing arts organization, On Cue Performance Hub is a creative incubator and cooperative producing platform featuring emerging and underserved artists, groups and small companies working across a wide range of performing arts disciplines. Its goals are to activate a cross-disciplinary network of artists, make it possible for them to derive a more sustainable income from their creative work and cultivate more diverse public engagement in support of Regina’s performing artists.
