Sâkêwêwak First Nations Artists Collective Inc. is seeking a Festival Curator to be the creative force behind the 2025 Sâkêwêwak Annual Storytellers Festival. This event is a community-based, multidisciplinary arts showcase that brings together diverse voices, mediums and experiences in a vibrant celebration of Indigenous artistic expression.
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Festival Curator is responsible for planning, managing and executing the annual Storytellers Festival.
The ideal candidate will have established relationships within the Regina artistic community, familiarity with Sâkêwêwak’s Storytellers Festival and demonstrated cultural competencies to ensure First Nations and Métis cultural protocols are at the forefront of all activities.
This contract is a three-month term, and will be compensated at $5,000/month.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Festival Program Facilitation and Coordination: Plan, implement and evaluate the Storytellers Festival.
This requires developing a plan with an accompanying budget, advertising and recruiting artists for the festival, drafting and executing artist agreements for production and technical services related to the festival, as well as meeting the objectives stipulated in those agreements, such as arrangements for travel and accommodations for the artists.
Festival Program Reporting: Evaluate the festival and compile the results in a report format that is acceptable to key funders.
Other duties, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
An undergraduate or graduate degree in visual arts/fine arts or equivalent studies and relevant experience in arts administration and/or curation.
One to three years of experience in an arts-related field.
Preference for this role will be given to candidates who self-identify as Indigenous, in accordance with s. 16(1) of the Canadian Human Rights Act.
