Manager - Development and Fundraising

Position Summary: This position is responsible to manage and execute Wanuskewin's development, fundraising activities, programs and initiatives, including providing support on all UNESCO and government relations activities.

Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for attracting and retaining long-term donors for capital improvements, UNESCO support and operational fundraising.
• Responsible for the attraction of new funding through donations, sponsorship and grants
• Responsible to strategically create and implement fundraising programs, planned giving, and targeted giving programs.
• Retention and stewardship of existing and expanding donor base.
• Responsible to manage and report on use of funds, grant writing, donor communications, in a timely basis that informs donors and grantors of progress and achievements.
• Responsible for creation, management of Wanuskewin development activities and programs, that contribute towards the organization's bottom line and revenue generation.
• Maintains accurate documentation and usage of donor management tools. Maintains confidentiality and adheres to the donor bill of rights.
• Works with CEO and Senior Staff to provide support on UNESCO and government relations activities.
• Administration of invoicing, reporting and follow up. Maintains accurate documentation and usage of donor management tools.
• Responsible for maintaining Wanuskewin's overall development and fundraising budget.
• Responsible to work with all department heads to ensure each manager has appropriate knowledge of, and is able to manage their grant and sponsorship needs or requests to ensure the overall budget achieves business objectives.
• Responsible for overseeing all aspects of staff management for the Development Team to ensure a high-performing, engaged, and cohesive team.
o Recruitment and Onboarding: Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract top talent, conduct interviews, and facilitate a smooth onboarding process that integrates new hires into the company culture
o Training and Development: Identify training needs, create professional development programs, and support employees in enhancing their skills and career growth through mentorship and continuous learning opportunities
o Performance Management: Establish clear performance expectations, conduct regular evaluations, and provide constructive feedback to promote accountability and foster a culture of excellence
o Employee Relations: Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns, mediate conflicts, and promote a positive workplace environment by encouraging open communication and collaboration, Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures, and actively participate in the development and refinement of HR policies to align with organizational goals.
• Fosters a culture of business excellence, donor focus and cultural sensitivity
• Works in a safe manner, following safety regulations
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
• Three to five years in a development, donor relations or fundraising capacity
• A degree in business, economics, arts, or a related degree. A certified Fund Raising Executive designation would be an asset.
• A suitable combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
• A class 5 driver's license with an acceptable driver's abstract
• Knowledge of philanthropic environment, UNESCO and government relations
• Knowledge of Plains Indigenous cultures would be an asset
• Demonstrated skills with development, fundraising and donor management
• Skills to budget and forecast accurately for projects, grants and small asset sponsorship
• Concise, accurate and persuasive writing skills.
• Demonstrated ability to draft materials such as solicitation letters, proposals and impact reports.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment, in a professional respectful manner.
• Ability to network and represent Wanuskewin at public events as assigned
• Ability to make donor presentations and ask for donations.
