Indigenous Music Development Program Coordinator

SaskMusic is seeking a creative, community-focused individual to join our team as Indigenous Music Development Program Coordinator. This role will guide a pilot program supporting a cohort of Indigenous artists and industry members in achieving their professional goals.

The Coordinator will work closely with participants to provide one-on-one support, coordinate mentorship sessions, and help them access educational resources and funding opportunities. This is a role for someone deeply engaged with Indigenous communities, who is excited about building relationships and contributing to the success of Indigenous artists.

Key Responsibilities

• Program Coordination: Plan and deliver a program to support the professional growth of Indigenous artists and music entrepreneurs.
• Mentorship Facilitation: Secure and coordinate industry mentors to coach participants on topics such as marketing, self-promotion, booking, recording, self-management, showcasing, financial, and performance skills.
• Community Outreach: Conduct outreach to identify needs and opportunities, and maintain ongoing communication with artists and industry members.
• Event Planning: Organize small-group workshops and networking events.
• Resource Navigation: Guide participants towards appropriate grants, educational programs, and other resources.
• Program Reporting: Track and document program outcomes, prepare reports, and share insights to support future programming.

• Passionate about the Arts: You have a keen interest in the music industry or other creative fields.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in Indigenous Community Engagement: Demonstrated lived experience or cultural understanding of Indigenous worldviews and approaches to the arts.
• Project Coordination Skills: Experience planning events or managing projects.
• Excellent time management skills, with an ability to prioritize and self-manage your work.
• Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication abilities.
• Education: Minimum Grade 12 or GED. A Bachelor’s degree in Arts or Business, or equivalent related experience in an administrative position, project management, and/or similar would be an asset.
• Computer Skills: Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and willing to learn additional tools as required.
• Flexibility: Ability to work a mix of weekday and evening/weekend hours, and complete some travel within Saskatchewan to accomplish program delivery.
• Collaboration: Desire to contribute as part of a small team.
Additional Requirements
• Must reside in Saskatchewan and have a valid driver’s license.

Work Location and Conditions

This is a flexible role that can be performed remotely from anywhere in Saskatchewan, or from our Regina office. Some travel within the province will be required to meet with program participants and facilitate events. Equipment, expense reimbursement, and professional development opportunities will be provided.
