With incredible things happening in Saskatchewan’s creative industries, Creative Saskatchewan is in need of a Program Manager who can take the momentum we’ve built and continue to help our province’s creative entrepreneurs thrive. Armed with grant money and a strong team of three that is potentially growing, you will help our province’s brilliant artists and creatives commercialize their work in industries ranging from music to book publishing to interactive digital media to visual art.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Program Manager ensures effective, accurate, and efficient administration of the Investment Fund and develops, delivers, and assesses programs to help creative entrepreneurs become commercially successful.
Creative Saskatchewan is the Saskatchewan government agency responsible for the economic development and growth of the creative industries. We help creative entrepreneurs to build and market their businesses and export their creative products. We need someone who believes in our province’s creative industries and their ability to contribute to a healthy, diversified Saskatchewan economy. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
● Oversee the day-to-day activities relating to the administration of the Investment Fund through programming delivered by Creative Saskatchewan staff
● Develop and implement program guidelines, application processes, and reporting requirements
● Support program staff in the administration of programs to ensure compliance with Investment Fund guidelines
● On-going consultation with stakeholders to ensure our program offerings are responsive to current market opportunities, accessible to applicants, and support our mandate
● Ensure accurate and complete preparation of adjudication materials
● Chair jury meetings as required
● Ensure proper record-keeping of program commitments
● Prepare annual budget for Investment Fund and program activities
● Supervise a team of three staff
Required Skills and Abilities:
● Customer Aware and Focused: Must have knowledge and understanding of the needs of Creative Saskatchewan’s clients and stakeholders with a commitment to providing responsive services that evolve with their changing needs. Must work respectfully within a multidisciplinary environment.
● Team-Orientation: Must be a committed team player working to meet team goals. Must be committed to fostering effective teamwork, both within Creative Saskatchewan and between the agency, its stakeholders and clients.
● Communication: must be able to listen to, synthesize, interpret, and accurately convey sensitive complex information and opinions of diverse audiences with clarity, conciseness and professionalism, in both verbal and written contexts.
● Leadership: Must be willing to share areas of competence with others. Must be willing to coach and encourage the meaningful contribution of others. Must show personal leadership within the position by setting priorities, identifying roles, delegating work with clear expectations and consistently meeting timelines.
● Strategic Thinking/Problem-solving: Must be a strategic thinker and creative problem solver with the ability to anticipate upcoming opportunities and challenges and determine required outcomes. Must be able to develop innovative approaches for the agency’s systems and processes. Must be willing to participate in the ongoing change process required of an Agency that values Saskatchewan’s creative industries.
Required Competencies:
● Finance & Budgeting: Must have an understanding of financial reporting and knowledge of and skills in budget development and monitoring.
● Facilitation Skills: Must be skilled at leading discussions with groups with varying interests with the objective of reaching an agreement/consensus.
● Program Evaluation & Management: Must demonstrate program management skills including the ability to develop, deliver, assess and evaluate programs.
● Computer Skills: Must have a good working knowledge of computer programs such as word processing, spreadsheet and database software, and the Internet.
