The Western Development Museum - Saskatoon is seeking a Volunteer Assistant, who will support all aspects of the WDM’s volunteer program including recruiting, orienting, onboarding, and scheduling volunteers. The Volunteer Assistant will maintain volunteer records and support volunteer involvement across the WDM system. The successful candidate will also directly support volunteers at the WDM Saskatoon and Corporate Office.
The Volunteer Assistant will be responsible for:
• Administering the WDM Volunteer Program at the WDM Saskatoon and Corporate Office including recruiting, orientation, and training of volunteers and volunteer activities.
• Ensuring all WDM Volunteer Program policies and procedures are followed consistently.
• Assisting in identifying and developing volunteer roles and job descriptions to meet the needs of the WDM.
• Supporting the involvement of volunteers in all areas of Museum operations.
• Maintaining appropriate scheduling for volunteers at WDM Corporate Office and WDM Saskatoon to meet the WDM’s needs.
• Assisting with the planning and implementation of volunteer recruiting activities (i.e., advertisements, social media posts, meet and greet events, job fairs, schools, etc.)
• Ensuring volunteers receive the training and support needed to be effective in their roles.
• Ensuring volunteer information is current and statistical information about volunteer involvement is accurately collected and reported.
• Ensuring that the screening of prospective and existing volunteers is completed in a timely manner and properly documented in volunteer files and database.

Some evening and weekend work is required. WDM employees belong to the Public Employees Pension Plan with employee contributions being matched by the employer. The WDM provides paid sick leave as well as employer paid health/dental benefits for qualifying employees.
