Director of Development & Donor Relations

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION: To develop, cultivate, and improve donor relationships with the company.
NOTE: A second part-time position for Director of Marketing & Communications has also been posted. Should the right candidate present, a full-time position combining the portfolios of both positions is possible. Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival (SOTS) has been producing the works of William Shakespeare in repertory on Treaty 6 territory on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River since 1985, attracting over 10,000 visitors from around the world annually to our summer festival. We strive to create a warm, relaxing, and inviting atmosphere for our patrons so they can truly enjoy their theatrical experience.
As part of the year-round team, the Director of Development & Donor Relations plays a crucial role in building meaningful and impactful relationships with our donors and community stakeholders.
We’re looking for an outgoing and fearless individual brimming with creativity and drive. The ideal candidate has superior oral and written communication skills, should love working and connecting with people, and will be adept at relationship building. They will enjoy a friendly, relaxed and causal working environment where collaboration is key. Someone who can say YES, AND while managing multiple high-level portfolios.
As a small team our staff wear many hats. The time requirements for the duties detailed below ebb and flow with the seasonality of our organization.
Key duties and responsibilities:
Working closely with the General Manager & Artistic Director, key duties and responsibilities will include:
• Develop and oversee various Development programs including but not limited to; Major Gifts, Planned Giving (SOTS is a member of the national Will Power program), annual Patron Donor Campaign, and other donor programs.
• Set the annual Development messaging, goals, targets, and strategies.
• Develop, cultivate, and improve individual donor relationships with the company.
• Ensure all donor recognition promises are fulfilled.
• Implement researched donor stewardship strategies that result in a high degree of donor engagement, encourage private sector, foundation, and individual support at all levels.
• Work along side the Director of Marketing & Communications to secure naming rights of festival site capital assets.
• Work with the festival staff to assist in operational and project grant applications as needed.
• Work along site festival staff to oversee all fundraisers and fundraising events
• Be present during festival season at all major events
• Lead operational and project grant applications, including writing, ongoing management and submission requirements
• Other duties as required.
Qualifications/Experience
• Knowledge and previous experience working in the philanthropic sector.
• 1 to 3 years of experience showing progressive levels of responsibility
• AFP membership considered an asset.
• Post-secondary training in a related field considered an asset.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Theatre industry considered an asset.
• Previous experience working with donor management systems considered an asset.
• Prior experience in the creation and execution of fundraising campaigns is an asset.

Salary Range
$23-$24/hour based on experience & education
Permanent, part-time based on 20 hours per week, year-round.
