OUTSaskatoon is a non-profit, charitable organization that believes in the equity of trans, two spirit, intersex, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and queer people. We provide peer support and counselling, queer-specific education and resources, outreach, social gatherings and events, community referrals, and sexual health services. We support body, mind and spirit within a growing and changing community.

We are looking for a community-minded, compassionate, and knowledgeable individual to fill the position of Indigenous and Cultural Projects Coordinator for our new Youth Sexual Health Project in partnership with Saskatoon Sexual Health Centre. The project is called “A Culturally Appropriate HIV, Hep C, and other STBBIs Prevention Intervention for Youth and Young Adults.” The Projects Coordinator is responsible for delivering capacity-building activities, coordinating project programs, and events, as well as developing and providing educational sessions and workshops, primarily to healthcare providers, businesses, and other community-based organizations (CBO).

General Tasks:
● Oversee all work related to the Youth Sexual Health Project: HIV and Hepatitis C Community Action Fund & Harm Reduction Fund
● Provide education and workshops to healthcare providers, businesses, and CBOs on the topics of queer sexual health, cultural: gender and sexual diversity as they relate to the particular audience (for example, navigating a high-school environment versus a workplace); Queer sexual health, including HIV and STIs; queer issues in healthcare; and diversity training as it relates to creating safe and accepting environments.
● Work to build relations with our Indigenous community members and partners
● Coordinate Two Spirit and Indigenous programming including storytelling, crafting, and other activities.
● Plan and run Solstice and Equinox ceremonies
● Work with community partners to put on AIDS Memorial Feast and Two Spirit Round Dance.
● Implement and carry out evaluation activities measuring and tracking OUTSaskatoon and 5-year PHAC project, in consultation with the external evaluator
● Work with OUTSaskatoon’s Youth Coordinator to oversee programs and services for queer and ally youth (e.g. Rainbow Coffee, Rainbow PYY and other youth events).
● Work collaboratively to plan and deliver the annual GSA Summit with the Education team
● Monthly statistical record-keeping and reporting and performance of other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
● A relevant undergraduate degree and one to two years of experience working in
community-based organizations
● Knowledge of queer and Indigenous communities and issues is essential. Knowledge of harm reduction, anti-oppression, and anti-racism approaches to community service delivery an asset.
● Experience working for community-based organizations and/or working in the queer community an asset
● Solid communication and interpersonal skills
● Independent decision making regarding day-to-day operations and strong problem-solving skills.
● Ability and self-reflexivity to work in a team environment
● Organization and time management skills (able to multi-task and re-assess priorities).
● Experience with standard office equipment, computing, and a variety of AV equipment
● Proficiency in Google Drive, Google Slides, Microsoft Word, and Excel
● Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle

Work Environment
● This position is office based but due to COVID-19, will work a hybrid model of in-person and at work from home
● Host and attends programs around the city or virtually
● Some shift and weekend work is required, and it includes one to two evening shifts per week
● Light physical duties may be required, dependent upon candidate's abilities
● Travels locally and within the province

Job Term:
This is a 5-year term, full-time position at 37.5 hours per week. $24.00 per hour
