The Legislative Assembly Service of Saskatchewan exists to provide administration and support required for the operation of the Legislative Assembly and provides organizational continuity from one Legislature to the next. Parliamentary Education and Heritage works to develop interest in the Legislative Assembly, its function, the Legislative building, and Saskatchewan’s diverse heritage by offering superior programming for all peoples. We are seeking a well-organized, energetic individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced team environment to join them.

As a Parliamentary Education Interpreter, you will provide tours of the Legislative Building to the public, as well as support educational programming, public events, and exhibits.

Summary about the position:

Responsible for the delivery of comprehensive factual and informative tours of the Saskatchewan Legislative Building focusing on the function of democracy, the Assembly and the building’s history and relevance as a historical and modern government institution within Saskatchewan and Canada.
Facilitates school group programming as necessary.
Responds to public inquiries and assists in execution of projects, programming and Legislative Assembly special events, including basic research to assist in development of new/expanded programming.
Required to work independently with minimal supervision.
Weekday and weekend availability preferred.
Summary of job qualifications:

Grade 12 supplemented with an interest in democratic/parliamentary process and training or experience in public speaking.
Proficiency in written and oral language skills.
Bilingual proficiency in French is a strong asset.
Knowledge of Indigenous history and governmental structures as well as an understanding of the general comparative governmental structures are considered an asset.
Position is appointed at $19.119 - $23.961 hourly, depending on experience. Term is for January - May, with potential for extension.
