Persephone Theatre, a leading cultural institution in the City of Saskatoon, is looking for a creative and passionate Community Engagement Coordinator to build relationships in the community in support of our Audience Development strategies.

This is a new and vital position and is responsible for relationship building with communities that Persephone Theatre has not previously been in relationship with. The Community Engagement Coordinator will be expected to take a considered approach to community care, ensuring those they engage with feel heard, and are proactively welcomed into our spaces and programs. Though the role will be extending invitations to new communities Persephone has not previously connected with, they are also responsible for stewarding community feedback about where and how Persephone can build programs responsive to those communities’ desire. To support the position in this work, the Community Engagement Coordinator works collaboratively with the Artistic Director, General Manager, Director of Marketing & Communications, and Artistic Associate(s).

We are actively attending to our core company values and ensuring our artistic programming, play development, and leadership models better serve, support, and centre the stories and creative needs of all Saskatchewan artists and audiences.

Persephone Theatre is looking for an individual who is excited to take on Community Engagement with the intention of:
 Devising new models for engaging community that serve people not previously in relationship with Persephone
 Identifying potential cultural community partners;
 Working with the Artistic team and those community partners to create mutually-beneficial programs for both Persephone and our partners;
 Development and coordination of those co-created engagement events

Qualifications and skills:

Essential:
 Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
 Creative and collaborative with a passion for new ideas;
 An energetic attitude and strong work ethic;
 Passion for theatre;
 Good research skills;
 Great sense of humour;
 Previous relationship building experience is preferred;

Key competencies include:
 Right Relations Protocols: ability to co-create mutually beneficial outcomes with communities; conversations and their resulting programs are built on collaboration with individuals and in service to their communities.
 Personal Accountability: a self-motivated sense of purpose and direction that supports reliability and accountability for personal and professional actions.
 Planning, Organizing, and Managing Time and Priorities: the ability to ascertain top priorities, forecast while anticipating outcomes and risks, and establishing appropriate courses of action.
 Professional deportment: the position may require the candidate to become one of the public “faces” of the organization.

Salary and Benefits:
Hourly wage will be $17-$20 per hours, commensurate with skills and experience.
