Tamil Heritage Month

January

Proclaimed in 2010, Tamil Heritage Month celebrates the history of Canada's Tamil community and its contributions to Canada. January was chosen due to the festival of Pongal, the most important festival amongst Tamils which also marks the start of the month of Thai in the Tamil Solar Calendar, falls in the middle of January.
