Experiential Anatomy of the Heart: Accessibility Focused

Artist Ashley Johnson will be leading free workshops to compliment our exhibition, "CARE" on November 30th and December 7th, 2024.

This community workshop animates how slowing down and sensing the heart can change the way we move, perceive and interpret the world inside. Using experiential anatomy Johnson incorporates stethoscopes and somatic movement to assist participants to glimpse the inner workings of the body.

"The Moving Heart" is a multi-year project created by Ashley Johnson and Karlie King that brings together internally sourced dance creation with ceramic heart sculptures. Together we ask the questions – What happens when we remove art from the walls, hold in our hands and connect it to our lived experiences? Can moving bring us closer to knowing ourselves?
