Arrangement, Description and RAD Refresher Workshop
Arrangement and Description are two of the key phases when providing intellectual control over and access to archival records. The incorporation of Rules for Archival Description (RAD), the Canadian Archival Description Standard, ensures that the information about records is consistent and complete so that staff and researchers can understand the creation, organization, and use of the records.
In this 1-day, online workshop (split over 2 sessions), participants will practice implementing the principles behind arrangement and RAD-compliant descriptions through sample exercises and discussion. Together we will review the specific RAD rules for textual records; photographs; maps and architectural drawings; audio-visual records and sound recordings; and electronic records. Bring a pencil and be prepared to write!
This course will be of particular interest to anyone who is doing descriptions for archival material.
