"Since the age of two, I have loved being on stage. Singing was my favourite, and I wanted, more than anything, to take voice lessons. However, my father died when I was 10 years old, and my mother did not work, so we were living below the poverty line. We had the necessities of life but not enough for extras. As a member of the Provincial Adjudication Committee for Creative Kids, I see myself in the children who apply for our funding, and I wonder what it would have been like to have a program like this when I was growing up. (In case you were wondering, the first thing I did when I started my career at the age of 24 was to sign up for voice lessons. And I've been taking them ever since.)"
